Description

Inset Embedded Non Depressible Road Stud

The RoadCraft 301 inset road studs are manufactured from high quality cast iron in the U.K. and the solid 301 casting guide rails give increased protection to the 3M™ Marker Series 290 Reflecting Road Stud. The combination of the 301/290 provides a highly durable system that performs very well even on the most heavily trafficked roads. Installed easily using traditional vertical milling equipment the 301 inset is supplied with the 3M™ Series 290 Road Studs pre-fitted. The 301/290 combination compliments road markings and helps to improve lane line guidance particularly on bends and exit/entrance points. The 301/290 is an all-weather road marking solution that can even withstand snow ploughing.

Approved by the Department for Transport for use on all road surfaces the 301 inset road stud fitted with a 3M™ Marker Series 290 Reflecting Road Stud is now the first choice for many engineers who require high value night-time reflectivity combined with long life performance.

Should the need arise; the 3M™ Series 290 Road Studs can be easily replaced on site, take the time to have a look at our video the timer shown on the bottom right is a real time counter.

Test Result Table

The following table shows the classification achieved by the road stud in its BS EN 1463 test, along with the minimum requirements required for legal UK use - as specified in TSRGD (2016).

Scope of Testing Classification
BSEN1463 Classifications
UK TSRGD standard
Definition P3A BS EN 1463 Part 1 - An initial test to establish the type and description of a new road studPermanent (P), Glass Reflector (1), Plastic Reflector (2), Abrasion Resistant Plastic Reflector (3), Non Depressible (A), Depressible (B) All Road Studs Product types allowed for use.
Dimensions (height) H1 BS EN 1463 Part 1 - An initial test to establish the type and description of a new road studHeight of road stud above the road. No performance (H0), 0-18mm (H1), 18-20mm (H2), 20-25mm (H3) H1, H2 and H3 types allowed for depressible road studs. H1 and H2 types allowed for non-depressible road studs.
Dimensions (size) HD1 BS EN 1463 Part 1 - An initial test to establish the type and description of a new road studMaximum horizontal dimensions of road stud exposed to traffic (in direction of traffic). No performance (HD0), length 250mm x width 190mm (HD1), length 320mm x width 230mm (HD2) HD1 types allowed for use.
Part 1 Night Time Visibility PRP1 BS EN 1463 Part 1 - An initial test to establish the type and description of a new road stud
Night time visibility. No performance (PRP0), Not less than table 4 (PRP1)
PRP1 types allowed for use
Part 1 Colorimetric Assessment
NCR1 BS EN 1463 Part 1 - An initial test to establish the type and description of a new road stud
Colormetric assessment. No performance (NCR0), Specified in table 9 (NCR1).
NCR1 types allowed for use.
Part 2 Primary Assessment S1 BS EN 1463 Part 2 - A road test classifying performance after a period of 12 months use
Primary assessment that indicates durability by measuring the number of road studs remaining from an original 50. 42-50 studs remaining (S1), 35-41 studs remaining (S2), 1-34 studs remaining (S3)
S1 types allowed for use.
Part 2 Night Time Visibility
R1 BS EN 1463 Part 2 - A road test classifying performance after a period of 12 months useNighttime visibility classification is based on the coefficient of luminous intensity (R) of each of 10 road studs. No performance (R0), 100% of R (R1), 50% of R (R2), 20% of R (R3), 1% of R (R4) R1, R2 and R3 types allowed for use.
